Do the Holidays mean “Automatic Weight Gain” to You? If they do, you are among the many who simply accept that they’ll gain 10 to 20 pounds during the next two months. I want to point out that it doesn’t need to happen to you! You may want to consider just WHY those sweets and other delicacies, not normally available to you during the rest of the year, are too tempting to pass up at this particular time.

The Importance of Collagen in Our Bodies by Chef Whitni

Today I want to talk about collagen. Unfortunately, as we age our bodies get depleted of so many nutrients and other vitally important things that keep us moving and happy with ourselves. Lacking in collagen hits home in a big way for me because I’ve always had beautiful skin, people have always commented on my skin, and now it’s what I dislike most about myself when I look in the mirror.  I’ve been looking closely for a supplement to help me restore the collagen levels I need to improve elasticity, vibrancy, and hydration. I came across the top 10 collagen killers, which I will talk about, but first, here are some facts about collagen from Dr. Axe:

I love these two products from Paula’s Choice!  On of my New Year’s Resolution is to have a better skincare regiment and these products, in addition to my daily moisturizer with SPF 15, have changed my outlook on skincare.  My face feels more refreshed, hydrated, and overall softer.  I recommend these products and they are good for all skin types.

Beauty isn't measured in Lbs - Chef Jess

Fk the scale. Ha ha okay, but for real, I hate the scale! Intelligently I know the number doesn't matter, however, I get upset if it's not the number I want it to be; this arbitrary number that I deem as successful. Do you find yourself getting too focused on the number on the scale? Yes, weighing yourself is the most well-known basis of measurement for weight loss, it’s FAR from the only one, and is one you shouldn’t knock yourself over! Your weight can fluctuate often for numerous reasons. Eating fibrous or salty meals the night before, stress (cortisol), that time of the month, dehydration, weighing yourself at different times of the day, the list goes on! 🌻

Coconut oil, as a face wash? A beauty tip -by chef Jess

Yup, you read it right. The oil cleansing method is quite possibly the purest, most effective way to remove dirt, impurities and yes—even oil from your face. I was skeptical of it at first too, but it made sense, water and oil don’t mix, oil grabs oil. I was left with the purest and softest skin I’ve had since I came out of the womb.
So how do you do the coconut cleanse? Below is a step by step guide to help you achieve the skin you’ve been looking for.

Step 1: Scoop out a dime size amount of coconut oil into the palm of your hands & and warm the oil up my rubbing your hands together.
Step 2: Massage the oil into your face
Step 4: Rinse a washcloth under warm water, squeeze out excess, and set tool on face 25 sec.
Step 5: Wipe the oil off of your face w/ the washcloth

Add essential oils for an aromatic experience

The infamous coconut oil has been the latest fad trend for both health and beauty hacks.  I personally jumped on the bandwagon to see what all the fuss was about.  Here are some of my daily beauty and health hacks for you all to enjoy as much as I do!

  1. Lip Exfoliator: Mix 2 tablespoons coconut oil with 2 tablespoons brown sugar. Put in small container that seals tightly.  Rub small amount on lips for 30 seconds to remove all dead skin.  Apply lipstick for fresh look.
  2. Skin Moisturizer: Add a spoonful of coconut oil to your bubble bath, then soak until fully relaxed.  Skin should be silky smooth.
  3. Sooth Sore Throat: Add a tablespoon of coconut oil to hot tea.
  4. Fat Burner: Replace all cooking oil with coconut oil will increase fat burning for energy.
  5. Make-Up Remover: Rub cotton swap with coconut oil and rub over eyes to remove eye makeup.
