Do the Holidays mean “Automatic Weight Gain” to You? If they do, you are among the many who simply accept that they’ll gain 10 to 20 pounds during the next two months. I want to point out that it doesn’t need to happen to you! You may want to consider just WHY those sweets and other delicacies, not normally available to you during the rest of the year, are too tempting to pass up at this particular time.
I’ve always maintained that excess weight is merely a cover or disguise for what is really happening emotionally. We seem to want to cushion ourselves from the hurt feelings that may come up should we dare to dive within and explore the motivation behind the behavior. Consider the possibility that in your subconscious lies a desire to relive old memories of joyful gatherings or perhaps it’s a simple desire to have holidays as we imagine or want to see them manifest as they do in holiday greeting cards. Essentially, we imagine how they “should be.” Too often we delude ourselves with unrealistic expectations. And, truthfully, that imaginary construct of the “perfect” Thanksgiving or Christmas may simply reside in the imagination. Of course, for many of us the holidays are filled with joy and laughter because we’ve created happier circumstances around us, nevertheless, a great many repress the longing for what “might have been,” “could have been” or “should have been.” All this leads nowhere and we find ourselves seeking comfort foods that might have soothed us when we were children. Understanding ourselves and what motivates and moves us is a must if we are to achieve true freedom. Freedom from dieting and other self-imposed limitations and beliefs is part of what comprises our journeys on this plane. Prevent ungainly weight increase with Hypnotherapy!
