The Connection Between Sleep and Weight

An often-overlooked part of weight loss struggles is amount and quality of sleep. Are your poor eating habits causing or worsening your sleep or vice versa? Do late nights drive you to the freezer for ice cream or the pantry for a bag of chips or cookies? Do your early mornings cause you to reach for the sugary food and excess coffee? Did you know on equal diets and work out regiments those who sleep 7-9 hour lose more weight than those sleeping less than 7?
Some tips to help your sleep quality. 
  • Avoid processed sugary breakfast foods instead aim for whole foods like fruit to curb that sweet tooth and eat it with whole grains like oats.
  • Don’t eat too late. It can cause you to delay sleep and snack late into the night.
  • Eat whole foods with low Glycemic index score (foods that are broken down slowly and release energy over time) this curbs mid-day and evening energy spikes and crashes!
  • Try having time limits like you don’t eat before 8 am or eat past 7 pm. Routines help keep healthy habits
