Chef Brett shares a few reasons behind soaking and sprouting grains and a simple how-to. I would like to talk real quick about sprouting and soaking grains. Sprouting will cause the grains to come back to life so to speak and soaking is the start of the process.
First why would you sprout or soak your grains? Well there are a few reasons. First, it becomes easier to digest in the body and the nutrients are better absorbed when the grains are soaked or sprouted. If you have mild trouble digesting grains, this can help. Second, it gives different taste and texture to the grains also fully sprouted grains are tender enough to eat without cooking them giving a nice texture in a salad. A last reason is they are quicker to prepare and take less cooking time. Soak them the night before or before you leave and you can get dinner on the table even faster.
