Our awesome chef Kristen has been training for a week-long backpacking trip and was doing great. She was in shape, lost weight, and was hitting her training milestones. Everything was perfect until one last snag.
She needed a set number of calories for fuel each day, but the foods she picked were too heavy or too bulky to fit in her pack and feed her for the entire way, plus emergency rations just in case.
So, I figured out her basic Macro nutrient needs (carbs, protein, and fat) and configured her basic diet around those. Then, I got to work with how much weight and space she had left in the bag!
We chose to go with roasted nuts, keto creamers for coffee breaks, almond butter and sprouted oatmeal balls, and crushed up Paleo crackers to add to MRE to just take her over her calorie needs with a little less weight and a little pack space to spare.
