There is no denying the fact that a healthy diet can help lower your risk of cancer as well as helping to slow the growth of some cancers for those that have already been diagnosed. Fruits and berries, cruciferous vegetables, legumes, carrots, flax seeds, certain spices like turmeric and cinnamon, all contain a variety of cancer fighting properties that can help you in vital ways to stay healthy. Sticking to a fresh and organic plant-based diet, cutting out most of your red meat consumption, eating fish, vegetable and nut proteins are key steps to take when thinking about cancer prevention.
Another important piece is cutting out most sugars and processed foods, staying away from acidic foods, and sticking to a high alkaline diet. It has been shown that certain cancer cells cannot live and reproduce in a high alkaline environment. For those that have already been diagnosed with cancer, it is important to do everything possible to prevent the growth of new cancer cells from forming which is the basis behind the anti-angiogenic approach. Always check with your oncologist before making these types of lifestyle changes.

Angiogenesis is the body's ability to create blood vessels which is crucial to do things like heal wounds. This creation of blood cells, however, can also have a negative effect if not kept in balance. Your body can keep creating these blood vessels which feed cancerous tumors and allow them to grow. The theory behind anti-angiogenic eating is simply what foods can be eaten to stop the process of angiogenesis, and essentially beating cancer at its own game. Some of the foods that are on this anti-angiogenic list are strawberries, red grapes, soybeans, blueberries, cooked tomatoes, certain types of teas, apples, garlic, parsley and olive oil. Some of which fall similarly in line with the diets that I listed before.

The bottom line is, when dealing with cancer, no matter what diet plan you choose to follow, the most important thing is to choose the best organic options for your food sources and try to retain as much of their natural vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that you can, which will arm your body with dense nutrients needed to fight cancer.
