SEVEN MYTHS AND SEVEN TRUTHS ABOUT THE KETO DIET from DR. AXE
Myth 1: Carbs are an essential nutrient for good health.
Truth 1: There are essential proteins and essential fatty acids, but there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate.
Myth 2: You can’t get all your necessary nutrients on a ketogenic diet. This is completely false, in fact...
Truth 2: You can get all your essential vitamins and minerals through veggies, meats and supplements. A ketogenic diet can get your body in the right state for absorption.

Myth 3: Ketogenic diets can cause your body to go into ketosis, which is dangerous.
Truth 3: Ketoacidosis can be dangerous, ketosis is not. When your body is in ketosis you can have better focus and concentration, and awareness, a sense of the fog being lifted.

Myth 4: A high fat, ketogenic diet will give you heart problems.
Truth 4: The medical research says it will do just the opposite, when you follow it the right way, studies show that a diet high in essential fatty acids can promote a healthy heart.

Myth 5: Ketogenic diets cause muscle wasting.
Truth 5: Ketogenic diets are better at preserving and even increasing lean muscle mass. The reason is, it’s all tapping into your hormonal health. When your hormones are working against you, you can’t win the battle.

Myth 6: The weight loss from ketogenic diets is water loss.
Truth 6: You do lose water in the beginning, but once your body is adjusted, fat loss accelerates and becomes the primary source of fuel.

Myth 7: Ketogenic diets don’t work because as soon as you’re off the diet, you gain the weight back.
Truth 7: Change only works over the long term if it becomes normal behavior. After that 30 day period, once your body has been in ketosis, you start to add some carbs back into your diet in ketocycling, and that’s when you get to enjoy the benefits of both.

Bonus Myth: Ketogenic diets require hours of meal prep and are inflexible. In truth, this is one of the easiest diets as far as meal prep is concerned.
