By Chef PerryYou have three options when it comes to buying Halloween candy.
I researched basic nutritional facts on the 2015’s Top 5 Halloween Candy (CNBC) and three healthier alternatives. (Fun Fact: It was estimated that Americans spent $2.6 billion on Halloween Candy last year) (CNBC). I should mention that no candy is considered healthy or nutritious, but isn’t it a reason why you loved Halloween as a child? I ranked Nestle crunch as the healthiest alternative because it is one of the lightest chocolate bars with a satisfying crunch and the lowest in calories and sugar. Hershey’s Special Dark provides antioxidants from the dark chocolate. Although high in sugar, Peanut M&M’s contain protein and fiber from the legume. (Another Fun fact: A peanut is a legume, not a nut). Below is a chart highlighting the findings. So with that in mind...what will you be serving this Halloween? Tell us below!
