As a Southern California native, Chef Frances, grew up exposed to all different types of cuisines, thus began her foodie obsession! Every day is a food adventure spent searching for hidden, hole in the wall gems and seasonal farmer market finds.
It didn’t help, either, that every family gathering revolved around food. The only question ever asked was, “What’s cooking?” There was no task too big or too small. If you wanted to eat, you participated in the kitchen; be it rinsing rice, peeling garlic, supreming limes, or washing dishes. Ingredients were never measured - everything was made to taste! Frances grew up watching the Food Network and subscribing to food magazines and cookbooks. She then taught herself to bake based on what she had learned from these cooking shows and Bon Appetit magazine recipes. A perfectionist at heart, she would continuously research multiple recipes, then combine only the ingredients and steps that she liked until she came up with something that she thought was satisfactory. While attending UCLA, Frances thought her calling was in the field of education. After graduating, she pursued a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSULB and went into teaching. While teaching did bring her joy, there was always the call for her true passion in the back of her mind. So the decision to attend culinary school was made and she hasn’t turned back since! Frances was fortunate enough to be hired fresh out of culinary school by then executive chef of Abode, Santa Monica, Dominique Crenn. Under Chef Dominique’s tuteluge, Frances learned what it meant to be a part of a fine dining restaurant. She is now a highly experienced personal chef, caterer, and baker. Frances loves to share her passion with those around her. She is an advocate for health conscious, organic meals for family, friends and clients alike. She loves looking for innovative ways to turn everyday comfort foods into something lighter and healthier using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The joy that sharing her love of food with those around her says it all! Cuisine expertise: Low Fat, Low Sodium, Mediterranean, Paleo, Plant Based, Vegan, Vegetarian, Whole30, Keto, Atkins, and low Carb
